Celebrating Hong Kong Culture: A Unique Culinary Exhibition at the Grand Palais
In Paris, a unique exhibition showcased Hong Kong-style barbecue pork, pineapple buns, egg tarts, and milk tea at the Grand Palais, promoting Hong Kong culture. Organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board and Art Basel, the exhibition aimed to enhance art lovers' understanding of life in the city.
A highlight was a model of Hong Kong's famous cha chaan teng, featuring a chandelier-like illuminated installation by local artist Trevor Yeung Pui-hang, part of his Chaotic Suns series. This artwork was also displayed during the 24th Biennale of Sydney.
HKTB executive director Dane Cheng expressed pride in being the first tourism promotion organization to partner with Art Basel globally, emphasizing the importance of showcasing Hong Kong's unique experiences. Art Basel Hong Kong director Angelle Siyang-Le noted that the cha chaan teng setting allowed international visitors to appreciate Hong Kong's culinary heritage and cultural diversity.
Visitors praised the food and ambiance, with many reminiscing about their experiences in Hong Kong. The HKTB also invited media from Asia and Europe to explore local culture at the cafe and organized various cultural tours and networking events.
Looking ahead, the upcoming Art Basel Miami Beach, from December 6 to 8, will further highlight Hong Kong's cultural offerings, reinforcing its status as an international cultural exchange center and art hub in Asia.
