Hong Kong’s cruise tourism is booming this March, with 17 international cruise ships scheduled to visit. On March 9, four ships—Celebrity Millennium and Costa Serena at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, and Silver Whisper and Seabourn Encore at Ocean Terminal—docked simultaneously, bringing 5,400 passengers from 31 countries. The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) hailed the event as a sign of the city’s growing status as an Asian cruise hub.
Rosanna Law Shuk-pui, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism said the month features luxury liners like Silver Nova and Queen Anne, with many high-value passengers staying overnight. Costa Serena introduced a chartered route from the Philippines, while new shore excursions showcase Kai Tak Sports Park, a Kowloon City movie exhibition, and local egg tarts, blending modern and cultural experiences.
The HKTB’s “Hong Kong Super March” campaign ties these arrivals to a packed events calendar. On March 18-19, Queen Anne, Norwegian Sky (both maiden visits), and Queen Elizabeth will arrive, each carrying over 2,000 passengers. Queen Anne will host a gala dinner for 1,000+ guests at a local hotel, reinforcing Hong Kong’s appeal for luxury travel.
Law emphasized the synergy between Kai Tak terminal and nearby attractions, fulfilling the city’s cruise development plan. The HKTB and Tourism Commission are working to attract more cruise lines to use Hong Kong as a homeport, capitalizing on this momentum to boost tourism recovery.
