Hong Kong's cruise tourism sector is experiencing a significant rebound, as indicated by the rise in cruise arrivals and passenger numbers, according to Rosanna Law Shuk-pui, the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Law noted that the cruise ship "Spectrum of the Seas," which arrived at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal recently, has successfully completed eight voyages this season, using Hong Kong as its home port. She also revealed plans from the cruise line to increase its departures from Hong Kong this year, with each voyage accommodating around 5,000 passengers heading to destinations like Japan, Vietnam, and Shanghai.

Additionally, the cruise ship "Costa Serena" docked at the terminal over the weekend, bringing nearly 1,800 South Korean tourists to Hong Kong on January 11-12.

In another encouraging development, Law announced that starting in April, the mainland cruise ship "Piano Land" will operate from Hong Kong as its home port. This vessel aims to provide nearly 70 trips annually, attracting around 80,000 tourists each year.

Law underscored the positive trajectory of the cruise industry and affirmed the government's commitment to enhancing Hong Kong's status as a premier cruise destination. She urged local businesses to seize this expanding opportunity to attract more visitors.
