Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his resignation as leader of the ruling Liberal Party on Monday (6th), local time, which also means he will step down from his role as Prime Minister.

Trudeau held a press conference in Ottawa at 10:45 a.m. local time to formally announce his decision to resign. However, he will remain in office until the Liberal Party elects a new leader to ensure stability during the transition period.

Although the Canadian Prime Minister's Office has yet to respond to the related reports, the news has already impacted the markets. The Canadian dollar rebounded following the announcement, with the CAD/USD exchange rate rising by 1.2% to 0.7, while the CAD/HKD exchange rate broke through the 5.4 level again, reaching 5.4427.

Since becoming Prime Minister in 2015, Trudeau has been a central figure in Canadian politics, with his Liberal Party pushing forward numerous progressive policies. However, in recent years, his approval ratings have declined due to various challenges, putting his political future to the test. Trudeau's resignation may bring a new wave of change and challenges to Canadian politics.

The subsequent developments will depend on the leadership election process within the Liberal Party and the policy direction of the future leader.
