Cat lovers in Hong Kong are buzzing with anticipation as the Cat Expo 2024 prepares to take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from August 2 to 4. This three-day event promises to be a haven for feline enthusiasts, featuring 200 exhibitors and 410 booths filled with a wide array of activities and products dedicated to our furry friends.

A recent survey highlights the growing trend in cat ownership, revealing that owners are now spending an average of nearly HK$1,900 per month on their pets—an increase of 26 percent from the previous year. Shirley Chu Sut-ling, the general manager of the organizing group, estimates that the monthly turnover in the cat market has soared to HK$190 million, culminating in a staggering HK$2.2 billion annually.

The expo will showcase local and international vendors, with participants hailing from regions including mainland China, Macau, Japan, South Korea, and Malaysia. Attendees can look forward to a variety of offerings, from cat-themed art supplies to innovative toys and lifestyle items. The event is expected to draw a significant crowd, reflecting the rising enthusiasm for pet ownership in Hong Kong.

According to the organizing group's recent online survey of over *1,000 cat owners, more than 80 percent prefer to buy pet products locally, valuing quality and convenience. Additionally, nearly 90 percent of respondents reported an increase in their spending over the past year, attributing this rise to economic factors and the costs associated with medical care for their pets.

As the cat-loving community gears up for this exciting event, it’s clear that the Cat Expo 2024 will not only celebrate the joy of owning cats but also spotlight the booming market surrounding them. With the continued growth in cat ownership and a vibrant market for pet health products, the future looks bright for feline fans in Hong Kong.
